Ulladulla & Districts Blessing of the Fleet Festival -
Easter 2008
Planning
for the 2008 Blessing of the Fleet ball and festival is
going full steam ahead with committee members working
hard to ensure the success of the festival.
The 2008 festival will see the revival of the popular
parade, which has not been run since 2002, along with a
range of family fun activities on Easter Sunday.
Committee
members
have been working hard to organise the event with
separate sub committees set up to organise individual
aspects of the festival.
The return of the Blessing
of the Fleet parade
and revamp of the festival will be costly to organise,
and many local businesses have given their support and
sponsored
the Festival
Entertainment
and activities are planned to follow the parade on Easter
Sunday and will include local performers in a variety of
acts along with activities for the whole family.
After the parade, the floats will be parked in Ulladulla
to allow people to get a closer look, before the
activities move to the Civic Centre lawns and harbour
foreshore.
The committee has opted to focus on delivering a day
filled with
activity
on Sunday,
capped off with a
fireworks
display
in
the evening,
The day will include the traditional Blessing
of the Fleet ceremony
held at Ulladulla Harbour following the parade which will
see the boats in the harbour blessed.
Princesses will participate in the ceremony and
activities throughout the day.
