Blessing Ceremony

A Blessing ceremony is held every Easter Sunday to bless the fishing trawlers with a bountiful catch and safe return for the upcoming year.

Local Italian fishermen and their families and crew, along with members of the community and visitors, gather for the long standing Catholic tradition.

Father Michael performs a cherished ceremony. The statue of St Peter is then carried to the wharf to preside over the official blessing ceremony of the fishing boats.

Ulladulla Marine Rescue take Father Michael out on the harbour to get up close to the fishing trawlers, blessing each boat individually. Father Michael is joined by the Mayor of the Shoalhaven and the local member.
