Order of Service: Ulladulla Blessing of the Fleet Easter Sunday

NATIONAL ANTHEM:
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history’s page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

St Peter patron saint of Fisherman UlladullaShout to the Lord
Darlene Zschech
My Jesus, my Savior
Lord, there is none like You
All of my days, I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love
My comfort, my shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You
Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands
Forever I’ll love You, forever I’ll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You
My Jesus, my Savior
Lord, there is none like You
All of my days, I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love
My comfort, my shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You

Fr Michael Dyer Blessing of the FleetCALL TO WORSHIP:
Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
Lord of life and power, through the mighty resurrection of your Son
you have overcome the old order of sin and death and have made all things new in him.
May we, being dead to sin and alive to you in Jesus Christ, reign with him in glory,
who, with you and the Holy Spirit ever lives, one God, from all eternity.

Gospel Reading: Matthew 8:23-27
Storm on the lake
He got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning a violent storm
came up on the lake, and the boat began to be swamped by the waves.  Jesus was sleeping
soundly, so they made their way toward him and woke him. Lord save us!
We are lost! He said to them “where is your courage? How little faith you have!”
Then he stood up and took the winds and the sea to task.
Complete calm ensured; the men were dumbfounded.
“What sort of man is this” they said.
“That even the winds and the sea obey him?
The Gospel of the Lord.

Galilee Song
Frank Andersen
Deep within my heart, I feel voices whispering to me.
Words that I can’t understand; meanings I must clearly hear!
Calling me to follow close, lest I leave myself behind!
Calling me to walk into evening shadows one more time!
So I leave my boats behind!
Leave them on familiar shores!
Set my heart upon the deep!
Follow you again, my Lord!
In my memories, I know how you send familiar rains
Falling gently on my days, dancing patterns on my pain!
And I need to learn once more in the fortress of my mind,
To believe in falling rain as I travel deserts dry!
So I leave my boats behind!
Leave them on familiar shores!
Set my heart upon the deep!
Follow you again, my Lord!
As I gaze into the night down the future of my years,
I’m not sure I want to walk past horizons that I know!
And I need to learn once more like a stirring deep within,
Restless, ’til I live again beyond the fears that close me in!
So I leave my boats behind!
Leave them on familiar shores!
Set my heart upon the deep!
Follow you again, my Lord!

PRAYER OF BLESSING:

Almighty God, at the very dawn of creation, your Spirit hovered
over the waters. You made them teem with life, and you gave
humankind dominion over the land and sea. Help us to exercise
this dominion wisely, for the good of all peoples. Help us to rejoice
in the splendour of your world, and give thanks to you for its beauty.

Help us to realise that though we are made in your image, we are
but a part of the world you have made, and are but the stewards of
your creation. On this day we celebrate new life, new birth, in Jesus
Christ your Son. We ask you to bless the fishermen of this fleet.
Keep them safe from the dangers of wind and waves, bless their work
of providing food for others, and make their work satisfying and fulfilling.

May he who calmed the storm, and bade his apostles pay out their nets
for the catch, be with these fishermen always, and bring them safely
through the trials and dangers of their lives. We ask this in the name
of Jesus Christ, Our Lord, who died for us, and rose this day in glory. Amen.

The Great Southland

St Peter leading parade

GEOFF BULLOCK
This is our nation, this is our land
This is our future, this is our hope
A land of reaping, a land of harvest
This is our land, this is our home
This is the Great Southland of the Holy Spirit
A land of red dust plains and summer rains
To this sunburn land we will see a flood
And to this Great Southland His Spirit comes
This is a nation, this is our land
This land of plenty, this land of hope
The richest harvest is in her peoples
We see revival, His Spirit comes
Chorus
This is our nation, this is our land
This lucky country of dreams gone dry
And to these people we see a harvest
And to this land, His Spirit comes
Chorus
